Iranian Navy says tanker struck mines and caught fire east of Strait of Hormuz

Single source · Strait of Hormuz (approximate) · 2026-10-27 08:26 UTC

The Iranian Navy says a tanker it describes as violating a restricted area, with its tracking systems switched off, struck sea mines east of the Strait of Hormuz, was damaged and caught fire. A Palestine Chronicle headline reports a tanker burning near Hormuz, and the other posts relay the same navy statement, so no source independent of the Iranian side has confirmed it.
