A single Telegram post, relayed from ME Observer, reports that the mayor of Jonqan, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Iran, was shot dead in an early-morning assassination attempt around 02:30 UTC. The post attributes confirmation of the attack to the province's deputy governor for political and security affairs, but that confirmation reaches us only through the same post.
